Data Research Scientist, Women's and Children's Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation
Miller Finkelstein is a Research Data Scientist in the Women’s and Children’s Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. In this role, he supports multidisciplinary research examining patient experiences, healthcare communication, and decision-making tools related to prenatal genetic screening and diagnostic testing. His responsibilities include conducting and analyzing qualitative interviews, developing coding frameworks, managing and interpreting research data, and contributing to important research. He also collaborates with clinicians, researchers, and project staff to translate patient and provider perspectives into findings that can improve healthcare communication and delivery.
Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Miller earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Sociology from the University of Delaware and a Master of Arts in Sociology from Georgia State University. His master’s thesis, which analyzed service provider outreach for youth experiencing homelessness, anchored his commitment to addressing systemic inequities. Across his research career, Miller has focused on reproductive health, LGBTQ+ health, behavioral health, and social policy, investigating how institutional frameworks and public policies shape access to care for marginalized populations.
Miller is entering the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health Executive Master of Public Health (EMPH) program in Health Policy and Management as part of the Class of 2028 and is a recipient of the prestigious $10,000 UCLA Health Policy and Management Alumni Association (HPMAA) Scholarship. By combining his rigorous research background with executive training in healthcare systems administration, quality improvement, and policy analysis, Miller aims to lead transformative initiatives that advance health equity, inform public policy, and create more accessible, patient-centered healthcare systems.
