Joshua Teodoro serves as an Outreach Health Educator II at APAIT (Access to Prevention Advocacy Intervention & Treatment), a division of Special Services for Groups, Inc. (SSG). In this role, Joshua delivers culturally affirming health services and advocates for workplace rights and safety for marginalized populations—including undocumented immigrants, massage parlor workers, LGBTQIA+ individuals, persons experiencing homelessness, and substance users—in partnership with agencies like Cal/OSHA, DIR, and LCO. As a certified HIV Testing Counselor and Phlebotomist, Joshua leads strategic community engagement and mobile HIV testing initiatives across Los Angeles County.

“In my role, I facilitate a monthly ‘Health & Wellness Fair’ in collaboration with the Department of Public Health to provide fresh produce, vaccinations, and essential resources in justice-impacted areas,” Joshua shared. “I also host a weekly sober third space centered around free access to art, culture, and physical activity, where participants can build community and engage in holistic wellness in a non-judgmental setting.”

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Joshua holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education from California State University, Long Beach. Throughout years of hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, Joshua has developed a passion for health equity, expanding community clinic access, and advocating for at-risk populations.

Joshua joined the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health Executive Master of Public Health (EMPH) program in Health Policy and Management in 2026, with an expected graduation in 2028. Motivated by the positive experiences shared by UCLA alumni within their professional network, Joshua looks forward to engaging in research projects within the EMPH program and fellowships to deepen their knowledge and skills. After earning their MPH, Joshua plans to transition into municipal public health leadership and contribute to research initiatives that support health equity on a global scale.
