Program Overview

The Executive MPH in Health Policy & Management is designed to equip working professionals with the knowledge, skills, and resources to master the challenges of our changing healthcare environment. It is tailored for professionals invested in their careers, and provides them the opportunity to work full-time while pursuing a rigorous graduate program.

UCLA's Executive MPH is a two-year graduate degree program offered through the internationally-renowned Fielding School of Public Health. Students attend classes twice a month on Friday and Saturday. Upon completion of the program, students are conferred a fully-accredited MPH degree in health policy and management.

The EMPH Program is a unique collaboration between a strongly motivated group of students and equally motivated faculty, who want them to learn what they need to succeed. It's much more than a collection of academic courses. It is an action-oriented blueprint for future success in healthcare!
Paul Torrens
Founding Director & Professor Emeritus
The EMPH program at UCLA was truly an enjoyable and invaluable experience for me. Not only did the program provide me with the skills to pursue a management career in healthcare, but it also enabled me to build a robust network of peers with whom to continue my professional development. The faculty was comprised of leaders in the field and helped our cohort not only learn theoretical concepts but also how to apply them in the real world. Overall, I feel the program is top-notch and I’m proud to consider myself a graduate of the Fielding School at UCLA.

One of the things that I learned and experienced in the program was the cross section between a variety of healthcare professionals. This allowed for great dialogue in and out of the classroom. By the end of the program, I had gained greater confidence as a result of gaining a solid foundation of healthcare knowledge from the political realm, payer sources, hospitals, the VA, and community health care settings.
