2-Weekend Course

This intensive training is specifically tailored for managing projects of any kind in healthcare environments. Public, private, government professionals in management or policy will learn to manage all phases of a project - from creating a project plan with key work streams, to monitoring the budget, and completing the project on time. Interactive real-world exercises and extensive case studies help you apply the techniques learned, and build skills to manage large-scale projects with confidence.

The workshop can be used to satisfy the required 35 hours of project management education for PMP certification. Familiarization of Microsoft Project™ will be gained. The workshop focuses on the processes articulated in the Project Management Institute's "Body of Knowledge" (PMBOK®) and provides a solid introduction to the fundamental principles of the PMBOK approach and best practices.

This session is designed to teach healthcare professionals the core competencies of project management, focusing on industry recognized best practices for managing improvement projects. Attendees will learn how to create a Project Plan in Excel consisting of key work-streams and activities; how to ensure successful execution of the plan. The session includes an introduction to the fundamental principles of project management attributed to the Project Management Institute's "Body of Knowledge" (PMBOK)®; and covers the development of effective teams.

This session is designed to build core skills in Microsoft Project and orient participants to more advanced concepts attributed to the Project Management Institute's "Body of Knowledge" (PMBOK)® including scheduling, resource estimation, critical path development, project/portfolio inter-dependencies, and risk planning. Students will build a simple project plan using MS Project.
